The culprit here is the Microsoft Teams app installed in the Pixel device, as noted by Google, who’s now working with Microsoft to roll out a new update to fix this issue. Meanwhile, Google asked users to uninstall and reinstall the Teams app as a temporary solution.
Pixel Devices Freezing on Calling 911
Though Pixel devices come with the purest form of Android experience, they’re not different from other handsets in terms of issues. Unknown bugs arise every now and then, causing disturbing experiences or a complete breakdown of the device. Now, a new issue spotted recently is voiding the phone to make emergency calls. As reported by a Reddit user named /u/KitchenPictures5849 in the GooglePixel subreddit last week, calling 911 from Pixel devices with Microsoft Teams app installed is freezing the device! More clearly, this is happening on Pixel handsets running Android 10 or later, with the Microsoft Teams app installed but has no user logged into it. A weird connection between the Teams app and the underlying OS is resulting in the device freezing up when the user tried calling 911. This was acknowledged by Google, with the spokesperson saying as; Now, both Microsoft and Google are working on a new update to the Teams app, that should solve this issue. Until then, Google suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the Teams app for making a 911 call work, as a temporary workaround.
