In the first step, the indigenous e-commerce giant is already delivering two-wheeler and three-wheeler electric motors at multiple locations. These include major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, and Guwahati. Flipkart has also promised to deploy four-wheelers in coming days, with all these electric vehicles designed and assembled in India. Electrification of the logistics fleet is a key part of Flipkart’s larger sustainability goal and in line with our commitment to the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative.” Adding further, he explained, “In this journey of making our logistics fleet completely electric by 2030, we will collaborate and work with leading local players to procure and deploy electric vehicles while supporting the required infrastructure growth. We understand the relevance of electric mobility in achieving both business and sustainability goals and are committed to paving the way for greater adoption of EVs across the country.” The Walmart-backed shopping platform is establishing partnerships with leading EV players involving Hero Electric, Mahindra Electric, and Piaggio to execute its plan. As for now, Flipkart has decided on three electric vehicles to start with – Hero Electric NYX series, Mahindra Electric Treo Zor, and Piaggio Ape’ E Xtra FX.
